This cabin is just south of the Exxon gas station at the junction of Hwy 120 (Tioga Road through Yosemite) on Hwy 395. I snapped the original photo whizzing by in the car in summer, but painted it in winter snow. I've lost the photo and now paint from a watercolor I did just before I went to Jackson Hole with my beloved Evelyn. This is the first time I have painted it in oils.

I have painted this scene in plein air twice and used my paintings and photo for these two. "My Secret Spot" is on the bank of the Merced River by Yosemite Lodge in early spring.
